What is TuneLockr ?

TuneLockr is a music deposit platform that helps artists, songwriters, beatmakers, and producers document the existence of a creation at a specific date, before it is shared, released, or in the context of a collaboration.

What does the TuneLockr certificate prove?

The certificate links a date, a cryptographic fingerprint, and the deposit information to a specific version of your file. It helps establish a timeline and can be kept among the useful elements in case of a dispute. On its own, it does not definitively determine ownership of rights.

Why should you deposit a creation before sharing it?

A demo, a beat or a topline can quickly be circulated among collaborators, labels and platforms. Depositing the relevant version before its first send allows you to keep a dated proof that corresponds exactly to the file you shared.

Do Spotify or YouTube count as proof of prior existence?

No. Publishing online may help date a release, but it does not replace a deposit linked to the original file and its unique fingerprint. Broadcast platforms and TuneLockr serve different purposes.

Does TuneLockr replace SACEM?

No. TuneLockr is used to document the existence and priority of a creation. SACEM in particular handles the registration of works and the collective management of its members’ rights. Both steps can complement each other.

What types of creations can I deposit?

You can in particular deposit songs, beats, instrumentals, demos, lyrics, sheet music, stems, cover artwork, and files exported from music production software, as long as they meet the platform’s accepted formats.

My files become public ?

No. Your creations are not published on TuneLockr. They remain associated with your account, while their digital fingerprint is used to provide evidence and generate the certificate.

Can I add co-authors or collaborators?

Yes. You can link the relevant individuals to the deposit in order to better document your project. For significant collaborations, also retain correspondence, agreements, and successive versions.

How long does it take a deposit ?

The process generally takes a few minutes. Once the information has been validated and timestamping completed, the certificate becomes available in your TuneLockr space.
