This method is particularly used by YouTube's Content ID , which compares audio and video files provided by rights holders to the content uploaded to the platform. When a match is found, it then needs to be reviewed within its context: detection does not automatically mean there is plagiarism or unauthorised use.
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) also highlights the importance of being able to document your creations and to have evidence to establish their origin and timeline.
